Thanks for the lemonade, guys!
Thank you all for your encouraging comments on my little pity-party post. What do you all think of the Knits redesign? It seems like they're copying Vogue Knitting, which in my opinion is a mistake. I loved the old layout of the magazine, but maybe I'm just resistant to change. Anyone? Anyone?
In other exciting news, I ran 3 miles yesterday in 36 minutes. I took nearly 2 minutes per mile off my pace from when I ran my 5k in December. It was great - I actually felt like a runner!
Uh, oh, the wee troublemaker has discovered me in the office and run in and grabbed the scissors. I'd better grab him before he cuts up my knitting...

I haven't seen the new IK yet (I hope the bookstore has it soon!) but I loathe the layout of Vogue. I just hate having to search in the back for the patterns, and then figure out they're called like wide neck cable sweater #3 or whatever they've decided. I do think the patterns in the preview look great though, so we'll see.
First of all, a big "boo" to Bloglines because I haven't seen your updates for two days.
Secondly, I did see your socks in the back of the new IK that arrived in my mailbox today (and found it all on my very own since I didn't see your update until tonight). It was the awesome purple sock picture that caught my attention and when I saw your name I was so excited! :) Like you, I was surprised to see it sort of hidden in the back--particularly when I'd rather knit those socks than a lace thong or an itty-bitty, barely-A-cup bra--so sue me.
But I thought it was kinda lame that (as a subscriber, even), I had to sign up for some new newsletter to even access your pattern. :P But I did it because they rock. *grin* Congrats!
It might just be because I'm hormonal today, but I hate the new layout. And the way they've changed the online portion of the magazine, too. Your socks, however, have been printed out and will be knit.
I don't know about many knitting magazines. I'd love to see a post listing lots of them. I have a feeling I'll be subscribing to something else soon.
Uh-oh! I haven't seen the new IK yet, but like others, I don't care for the Vogue layout. Hopefully it's just a temporary change? Your final Sockret Pal package went to the post office yesterday so you'll either see it tomorrow or early next week! -Your Sockret Pal
SAVE THE KNITTING!
I haven't received my IK yet; why would they copy Vogue?!
I agree with Emily, and as I alluded to in my previous post, I really don't like it. I'll give it another month's worth of trying, but I don't think I'll like it. I don't like looking up the pattern to find a picture and then have to hunt down the written instructions in the back, like VK. I liked IK in that the patterns were with the pictures and I didn't have to flip back and forth. And is it me, or were there fewer pictures in this issue? I say that because I was looking for a couple of more detail-oriented shots of a couple of patterns and they just weren't there.
Like I said, I'll give it a month or so, but I don't like it.
kids with scissors .... never a good combination. at least you'll get there fast because you are certainly a runner.
Hey Chrissy! I too was disappointed that your GORGEOUS socks did not get the full IK treatment. They are lovely. I printed the pattern right away ... I have been dreaming of knitting knee socks.
I don't like the new layout either. I loved that IK kept the patterns and pictures together. The other changes ... the typefaces and whatnot, I thought were nice, but moving the patterns to the back? Bleh.
Hi chrissy, i'm glad you feel better. I can certainly understand the let down after the excitement. But they definitely like your stuff and it'll get in there! plus, you've already had something published in knitscene, which is also a great interweave publication.
about your socks, i think they're going to bring me out of sock knitting retirement, they're that lovely. i just had a question about the knee highness of it. did you have to thread elastic through the cuff to make them stay up? i've never knit socks that high before!
And I don't like the new layout either. Ugh. Why mess with a good thing?
