Now I'm going to open my window and wait anxiously for the commotion that will herald the arrival of the next little treasure. Although it may be optimistic to think that she'll lay another today (it might take her awhile to get revved up). Hopefully we'll get to this one before it gets stepped (and pooped) on!

Isn't it exciting? I'm a city girl, and when our pet chicken laid her first egg, we were all ecstatic. She continued to lay one a day for months, and they were delicious (although I always thought there was something a little incestuous about eating her eggs). Sadly, she went to visit the dogs next door and never came back.
